Hey all, Sam and David here.
How is everything going? Welcome back to another Wednesday, another mid-week check-in in this crazy adventure we call life. We still have quite a bit going on, even if most of it is happening outside of our daily posts on the blog. Speaking of, can you believe that today marks our 120th day of posting in a row…That’s 1/3 of the year! It’s a really long blogging streak for us. I mean, in the last couple of years anyway.
Hello! If you’re new around here, every Wednesday we share this WIP Wednesday post…WIP meaning Work in Progress…and basically David and I share what we’ve been up to in the past week. We talk about reading and writing and board games and video games and 3D printing and what we’ve been watching and anything else that feel relevant to talk about.
If you want to share some of your WIPs down in the comments, we’d love to hear what you’ve been up to. We know that life gets busy and hectic sometimes and it’s easy to forget to celebrate those smaller achievements (like finishing a book, or sitting down to watch a movie, or playing a board game. We’re here to cheer you on for whatever task you’ve accomplished this week. So, share with us. Let’s talk about whatever makes our geeky little hearts happy!
Sam
All right, I have quite a bit to talk about this week, so let’s just go ahead and dive right in.

Reading: So I did all right with my long weekend reading challenge this past weekend, and I managed to complete six books, which feels pretty awesome. I read People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry, Out of Character by Jenna Miller, Wild and Wicked Things by Francesca May, A Venom Dark and Sweet by Judy I. Lin, Court of the Undying Seasons by A.M. Strickland, and Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco.
All in all, it was a pretty solid weekend of reading, and I’m pretty happy with the results…although I got distracted by the internet a few times, so I probably could have finished more books if I had stayed away from my devices more. I’m already working on writing up and scheduling the review posts for all of these books, so keep an eye out, because they’ll be posted soon enough.
I’m also in the middle of a few books that I’m hoping to finish very soon: The Grimoire of Grave Fates created by Hanna Alkaf and Margaret Owen, A Thousand Recipes for Revenge by Beth Cato, and Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne. Two of these are upcoming NetGalley reads & reviews, and one is just a cozy fantasy that I’ve been hearing a lot about recently, so I was excited to check it out. I’m hoping to have reviews for all of these up soon.

Watching: I watched the last episode of “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel” Season 5. The show is over, and it’s a bummer, because the finale (plus the Suzie-centric episode) was the best of the season, after finishing off a mediocre Season 4. Oh well, at least I managed to finish the show. “Shadowhunters” Season 2 and Season 3 (in progress), “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Wanda Sykes: I’m An Entertainer,” “Pitch Perfect” (watched with David), “She’s the Man,” “John Tucker Must Die,” and a whole bunch of BookTube videos. Oh, and we watched the first episode of “Candela Obscura” by Critical Role.
Writing: I haven’t really done much actual writing the past several days, and I need to buckle down and write consistently again. I have some ideas and thoughts that I’d like to get down, so maybe I can have a better update for this section next week. I definitely know I need to get myself focused again and such, because we’re just a month away from the start of the next session of Camp NaNoWriMo and I’d like to do well with that again.
Oh, I did more work in my little corner of the room that is our office. Once I get everything organized in a way that I really like and that works for me, I’ll give you guys a writing space tour. Although I do some of my writing while sitting on the couch in the living room, or out on the front porch sitting on the swing. The desk/office space is where I end up doing most of my writing.
And I guess I should say that I’ve continued doing a lot of writing for the blog. And I’m excited to say that, even though it means even more work and writing for me, we have bonus posts coming soon, so hopefully you won’t mind the added content. I just have a lot I want to talk about and only so many days of the week to talk about them.
Other: We’re still doing a bunch of 3D printing to make sure we’re ready for the Downtown Summer Market, which is happening next week. We also went bowling the other day, which was really fun.
Oh, and we finally got around to buying ourselves bicycles to make getting around town a little easier. It’s a fairly walk-able town, but sometimes you want to run an errand faster and you don’t necessarily want to jump in the car to do it. So a bike is useful.
David
Gaming: So like many gamers right now my entire gaming schedule is filled with the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Got to say that is is living up to my expectations of a sequel game. I have reached a point where I need to find more shrines so i can get more hearts because everything is still killing me super easy and I am not good at dodging in this game lol. My basic strategy is to go in swinging with a really big stick and do not let the opponent have a chance to attack lol. I did manage to figure out how to unlock all the Great Fairy fountains and have been able to start upgrading armor so that will also help my survivability.
If you guys have pictures of some of the weird stuff you have built using Link’s new abilities please send them. I have been building basic stuff so far but I am thinking of trying to build something to help me traverse the depths a little better.
Printing: So printing projects have gone up a bit even with being down to one machine working properly again. I have been busting out a bunch of the cute cinderwings creatures and they all look so dang cute! I am also working on a green goblin mask that will be used for a cosplay. I have not done more of the Goblin Slayer one yet but I am hoping to try printing the chest or helmet pieces soon and then all I have to worry about is clothes and leather straps to finish it.
So below from left to right are a lightsaber handle support piece, a big sparkly phoenix, and a brass baby phoenix that have been printed and made ready to go. I am hoping to have more light saber parts together to show off how customizable they are its super cool! If you follow on the instragram I have been putting a lot more pictures of the prints lately so feel free to head over that way as well.

Watching: Been watching a small bit of shows over the week, making an attempt to catch up on The Clone Wars animated series and even started watching the movies through again. I still love Jar-Jar Binks so much as a character, I do not care what all jokes people have made. I did not notice until this watch through how much sass Obi-Wan has had since the get go of these films. Getting to watch and learn some of the more extensive pieces of lore surrounding these planets that are in the films is fun too.
Also watched She’s the Man and John Tucker Must Die for the first time last night, I love classic teen movies. They are always so goofy and ridiculous. I got a good laugh watching them with Sam while I was also playing Tears of the Kingdom, I died a few times and decided to go back on the hunt for more shrines and armors.
Well, that is all from us for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and we’ll be back soon with more geeky content.
