Hey all, Dani here.
I am in the mood to read…which when am I not in the mood to read? Well, okay, there are rare times when I don’t do a lot of reading, but especially right now there are just so many books out already or getting ready to come out and I just want to read. Thankfully there are so many reading events to take place in right now.
The next session of Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is coming April 25, 2020, and I am sincerely hoping to get a lot of reading done. I have been doing this readathon for…I think this is my fourth year now. It is held every April and October, though in the summer they also hold a Reverse Readathon.
Where I live this event starts at 8am on Saturday and goes until 8am on Sunday, whereas the reverse event goes 8pm-8pm. Anyway, my usual ritual for myself is to buy up some snacks and coffee and other drinks, pretty much everything I need to keep myself going as I try to overload on words.
And, seeing as how the stay-at-home orders are still in place in Ohio until after May 1st, I don’t have to worry about any sort of social gathering distraction. And hopefully I’ll be able to keep my video gaming to a minimum…or maybe I can do some audiobook listening while I play. Yeah, that would probably work.
Okay, so the whole reason for this post is to let you all know that I will be updating during the readathon primarily on Instagram, but also a little bit on Twitter, and then I’ll have a bit of a recap during the weekly wrap-up blog post here. The other big point for this post is to figure out my TBR. There are so many books I want to read, so this is a bit difficult.
The first of three options for what I might pick up to read are some of these books I’ve picked up at conventions over the years, meaning to read and review them to support smaller authors…and then they just never got read.
The second option is some of the newer books that I’ve purchased that sound really interesting and I do want to pick up soon. Then again, I also don’t know what all I’m going to read in the next week, so any of these might be read by the time the readathon starts. I don’t know.
And of course, one of my favorite types of books to pick up for readathons is manga. They read so quickly and they make me feel pretty accomplished when I’m trying to read a lot in a short amount of time. Since I’m working on reviewing my way through the Fairy Tail series during my Manga Monday posts, it’s about time for me to do a binge-read session, so this might be a good time to pick more up.
Then again, there’s a final option…and that is none of the above and just picking up whatever random books on my shelf happen to sound good in the moment. It’s so hard to plan a TBR when I’m feeling deeply like a mood reader at the moment.
Are any of you joining in on Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon next weekend? If so, what are you planning to read? If not–what readathons do you like to participate in? Let’s talk books in the comments, and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
I hope you have an amazing readathon!

You still have plenty of time to sign up and figure out a TBR…or just wing it because, you know, mood reader. Lol.

Lol I’ll probably wing it. It depends on if my roommates and I decide to have a wine and game night then cause we skipped last weekend.
