Review: Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

Welcome back to my blog for yet another review. I feel like I’m currently cranking out the posts, and I hope I can keep up with this pace. Actually I was looking over my April blogging schedule and there are like 13 posts for April that I can write up right now, because they are discussions or recommendations or reviews for books I have already finished. Now, if only I had the time and the patience to sit still long enough to write up that many posts at once.

Instead, I get to sit here with fingers that are so cold that they are barely moving where I want them to–I have had so many typos already, and I’m still working on the intro to the post. It was nice weather over the weekend–why did it have to get so darn cold again?

Summary

My Thoughts

I had been impatiently waiting for this book since I devoured the first book a few months ago. I am so happy to report that this sequel did not disappoint at all. I expected the two leading characters to butt heads a lot and make this a very entertaining read, and thankfully they delivered on that expectation.

So I read this book at the same time as a couple other books, and in the Sunday-to-Monday where I was reading all three of these books, each one of them made me cry for completely different reasons. This one definitely hit me in the contemporary romance feels, whatever that means.

When you pick up a book like this, you expect there to be some butting of heads, some speed bumps, some obstacles, and you expect there to be a happy ending. Then with this particular series, you also expect to have meetings of the Bromance Book Club. Whereas the first book actually gave us sections from the book club pick, this one primarily focused on the discussion of the book at the meetings.

Oh, one of the fun side characters in this one is literally a chicken. I loved pretty much everything that happened at the farm. That was just great. I loved the suspense and action of this one, compared to the Regency Romance feel of the previous book. I also just really loved following along with the guys as they hung out, talked, and plotted for the Grand Gesture moment. It’s great that because all of these guys read romance novels that the Grand Gesture at the end is a major thing.

I’m really happy to see what’s going to happen with Noah in the next book, because our computer/tech wiz is getting his own novel, where we definitely get to follow a friends-to-lovers sort of situation, also featuring a character who was a minor character in book one and I would say she’s a secondary character in this one. Oh, oh, and apparently next year we’ll be getting the Russian’s story too, so I’m super excited about the next couple installments of the Bromance Book Club series.

This series is proving to be as great as I hoped it would be based on the titles alone.
